Wahroonga House is an innovative and award-winning custom home that offers a rare combination of a cedar-clad design centered around a masonry spine.
Finished in 2013, this home draws on modern architectural instincts in form and function, resulting in a first floor that appears to ‘hover’ above the ground floor.
The clients expressed a strong desire for a living space that felt open and breathable. Our award-winning team achieved this vision through the extensive use of natural materials, illuminating a design that allows for an abundance of natural light to flood the interior. Soaring ceilings complement open-plan living, with oversized glass doors and windows inviting the exterior in.
The theme of light and breath continues in four magnificent skylights above the open foyer/staircase. By using materials such as glass, natural timber flooring and feature wood fittings, Chateau Architects + Builders celebrated the harmony of home and nature in every corner of this design.
Sprawling bedrooms create private sanctuaries above the open-plan living and dining space. The kitchen is a stunning array of light and space, with Caesarstone benches basking under the sunlight afforded by more skylights.
The home tumbles out onto an oversized timber deck, creating the perfect space for year-round outdoor living. A lap pool finishes off the home alongside a beautiful lawn space, creating opportunities for all kinds of play as the seasons change.
Our hard work paid off not only in the majestic nature of this beautiful home, but in the many recognitions of our work by the Australian industry. Wahroonga House was awarded the HIA NSW Home of the Year, HIA NSW Custom Built Home of the Year, HIA NSW Best Custom Built home $1m – $2m and MBA NSW Best Design & Construct House $1-$2m.
