Chateau Architects and Builders have been spending a lot of time in Sydney's beautiful suburb of Mosman. We are excited to share some new images of the elevations and our work.. now underway!
Finding Chateau
The owners behind this grand vision approached Chateau having previously engaged a separate architect Guy De Compiegne (now based in France). This was to be a knock down and rebuild of their vision for a family home. The DA had been lodged and approved through Mosman Council.
Breaking the budget
Upon seeking construction quotes and estimates it became clear that building to current approved and designed plans would exceed the client's overall budget. This can be a common issue where clients decide to consult separate architects and builders (See our Blog article titled 'Architectural Designer Builders Provide The Best Value ' for more information comparing 3 avenues to design and build namely project home, separate architect & builder and same architect builder). Looking for a team of experts that could rectify this scenario lead the client to Chateau; and presented our full team of designers/ estimators/builders and external experts engineers etc. with the task of getting their home back on budget.
Design that works
Chateau endeavored to make slight modifications to the design, whilst keeping with the concept that the owners loved. This meant keeping the views down the harbour out to the heads, by simplifying the roof and general engineering and construction (see elevations below). A section 96 application was submitted by Chateau to Council which was then approved. The team then received the Construction Certificate, contracts exchanged and voila! Construction has now commenced.
Model of Original Design
Here you can see the design in it concept format, it's origional design.
