Part 1 - The Architect Builder Relationship and How it's Vital to your New Home

The architect/builder relationship and how its vital to your home

To introduce the idea of engaging with an “architect,” you need to ensure that the title used by the person or firm responsible for designing your new home represents the appropriate educational and training background. Whether the person is a registered architect and member of the Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) is an important part of ensuring they can deliver the desired outcome for your home. I.e. are they experienced and qualified residential architects?

RAIA architects, and those specifically qualified in residential architecture generally provide more services related to master planning, site layout, interior design, total design, engineering coordination and on-site inspection with the builder on behalf of the owner.

Many experts in the industry have commented that having a builder team up with the architect in the conceptual stage of a new project is a huge benefit to the project's success. The combination, and 'team' of architect/builder allows both to listen to the owner, discuss ideas, explore costs and guide the project more efficiently and quickly to a completion that meets the owners' expectations.

From the start, the builder learns the hopes, desires, visions and expectations of the owner. Acting as a team player, when the builder reviews the plans he or she can offer great ideas to guide the process through the various design stages. Some typical builders tend to find it difficult to think outside the box. They tend to have regulated processes and may constantly try to control the budget.

Your Custom Home Builder may be a refreshing variation of this.

Generally speaking it is the architect who thinks in more creative lines, and offers unique and distinctive ideas to create the ultimate style and feel for the home. Combining these two forces allows both the flow of ideas, and the technical and practical 'know how' to form a cohesive alliance together. Hopefully one that aligns with the original budget!

Chateau Architects + Builders pride themselves in their design and craft. Every single home is custom designed and master built, to suit the distinctive and unique personalities and visions of our clients. Award winning custom home builders, contact Chateau today, and start the conversation.
