Home Office Designs for Modern Homes

Another key space for many mondern Australian families is the home office space.

Whether it be for full time use, in a work-from-home capacity, or part-time it's worth while assessing what the true needs are for your your family, so you can design something appropriate; functional and comfortable and assign the correct space for it during the design phase of building your new home with an experienced and knowledgable architect (like Chateau Architects and Builders, champion House Builders Sydney of course!)

Home Offices Are Becoming More Popular

Some of the key considerations for the ideal space include:

1. Frequency of use

How much time do you plan on spending in your work-space? Is it something that will be used daily? Getting some insight into the importance of this space to you every day life might help you decide how much space to invest, and the types of additional features such as work-space and storage you might need.

2. Purpose of use

This is a big one. Is it a quiet space just for yourself? Or do you intend the space to be more open in style, and accessible for the rest of the family. Some of the trends for modern study spaces as you may have seen on TV series 'The Block' include the 'nook', or smaller study space which is being included in modern kitchen design. The premise here is that yourself, husband or childern can complete work or homework still being able to discuss with famly members. It's a great idea for helping kids while they get their homework done.

If you need more of a quite 'studious' space, then perhaps it makes sense to build a dedicated home office space.
But how big should it be?

3. Ergonomics

It's not just the aesthetic elements of your office that's important, but it needs to be functional as well. It's about creating the optimal environment so that you can get important work done, and then can get back to family time - or 'me' time. Having a workstation that is set up specifically for you stretches from the work office into the home. It's always important. Getting the correct set-up can can help prevent problems such as beck and back problems and eye strain.

4. Style

The home office has increasingly become important over recent years as more people embrace flexible employment. Make your workspace a reflection of your personality and tastes. Design a space that is conduscive to getting work done, as well as a space where you would be happy to work. Some of the key considerations here include natural light, wall colourings and furbishings.

5. Special features

What do you need to feel most comfortable? It's about going the extra mile and creating a design that is right for you. A luxurious, comfortable, peaceful space. You might like to consider floor to ceiling windows for a dramatic effect, dim lighting, wood panelling for a more aecademic feel and walk-in storage spaces and shelving. The options are limitless.
